The Kenmore Rugby club recently received a grant in the amount of $10,000 from SJP Federal Credit Union for community groups whose income in 2020 was impacted by the covid-19 pandemic.
Grants were awarded to ten different groups in the WNY area with an emphasis on community based youth and youth sports groups. Organizations had to demonstrate a 50% or higher loss of income for 2020 vs. 2019.
"Covid really impacted every community organization, large and small, in 2020. We are thrilled to be able to support these organizations and help them continue to serve their respective communities with these grants. - Chas Kirsch, SJP Manager & CFO
"The entire 2020 season was wiped out for all of our teams. With nearly all of our annual operating revenue coming from player registration fees, the pandemic had a major impact on our finances. This grant fills a huge hole in our budget as we continue to move forward as a single unified club." - Fred Bressette, Kenmore Rugby Administrator & Youth Rugby Exec. Director
The money will be used to replace older team equipment and for marketing and advertising centered around new player recruiting and current player retention.
