Hello all,
This is John Bressette, Interim Director of Rugby. The club leadership and I have been hard at work this summer organizing events and laying the foundation for the club's future with a new Board of Directors and a renewed focus on the club's growth. But that's not all we've been up to, read on for a full recap of the recent goings-on in the club:
Summer 7's Invitational
On Saturday, August 8th Kenmore Rugby hosted the first ever Summer 7's Invitational Tournament. We invited high school boys and girls teams from across RugbyNY's Upstate division for a day of 7's rugby. We celebrated our seniors playing their last matches for Kenmore, and got a peek at some rising freshmen who will make the leap to high school rugby this year.

Summer Camp Skills Clinics
The Kenmore Rugby Club partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of the Northtowns to #GrowTheGame by running Intro to Rugby skills clinics at three of their local summer camps. Clinics were held once per week at each camp, for four weeks. Director John put his coaching hat back on, and with the help of some alumni and junior coaches, we introduced rugby to over 100 kids. He even managed to drag Coach Fred out of retirement! We look forward to some of these campers donning a Kenmore jersey in the future, some as early as next spring!

Board of Directors Elected
At long last, Kenmore Rugby is excited to announce our new Board of Directors! Longtime Kenmore Rugby parents Cheryl Greene, Jarrod Barry, and Heather Hierl Weimer were elected President, Vice President, and Treasurer, respectively. Joining them on the Board are Kenmore Rugby alumni Colin deGuehery and Keith Fazekas, as well as Kaitlyn Ratka-Fazekas and Grant Baker. We can't wait to see everything they have in store!
Chiavetta's Dinner Fundraiser

One more reminder that it's almost chicken time! Our Chiavetta's fundraiser is Tuesday August 18th.
Pre-sale tickets are just $18 for Chiavetta's famous 1/2 chicken, potato salad, coleslaw, and a dinner roll.
A portion of the proceeds go directly to Kenmore Rugby to help fund our flag and tackle programs and to purchase new training equipment for the club.
The pre-sale ends Monday, August 17th at midnight so be sure to buy your dinners ASAP!
A limited number of dinners will be available for drive-up orders on Tuesday. All dinners will be available for pickup between 5-7pm on the 18th.

With a new Board in place, it becomes time for me to relinquish my role as Interim Director of Rugby. Now I can kick back and relax... oh wait, Fall rugby starts in a month! Well back to practice planning. Lucky for me I can focus my time on just coaching going forward. I thank you all for your support through the club's transition, and I'm looking forward to our fall season.
Kenmore on three!
