Kenmore Rugby is excited to announce two new programs for 2025; Community Rugby Programming, and our Leadership Development Pathway. These two programs will work together to fulfill our mission and vision of developing courageous leaders and connecting them with opportunities to serve their community.
Our Community Rugby Program is the next step in our club's growth. Its mission is to make rugby accessible to every child, regardless of their background, providing a safe, fun, and challenging environment where they can learn and grow. The club will partner with select community agencies to offer free introductory rugby programs for students in grades K-8.
The Leadership Development Pathway will combine introductory level rugby coaching with real world working experience for current juniors and seniors on our High School teams as they develop and facilitate the curriculum for our Community Rugby programming with an emphasis in social emotional learning that is based on the club’s core values of courage, growth, empathy, and passion.
Community Rugby Programming at our partner sites will be staffed by coaches and current senior players from our Leadership Development program, allowing our players to develop leadership and work readiness skills, as well as enhance the experiences of the participants.
It is our goal, that by connecting current club members with a chance to serve their community, that we will be able to grow the game of rugby here in WNY and provide participants in the Leadership Development Pathway with opportunities to develop the soft skills necessary for their professional and academic lives after high school.
"This is something we've been working on for a while, and we're really excited to share it and get things rolling. I think this is a massive step for our club, and will make the game that much more accessible for kids." - John Bressette, Asst. Director of Youth and Middle School Rugby
The Leadership Development Pathway and Community Rugby Programs will be overseen by Director of Rugby Mackenzie Doolittle.
The integration between the different age levels of our club is what sets us apart. We have middle schoolers, training alongside high schoolers, and high schoolers coaching youth players. These initiatives will provide us with another opportunity to practice the #OneClub mindset. - Mackenzie Doolittle, Director of Rugby
These new initiatives reflect Kenmore Rugby Club’s belief in the transformative impact rugby can have on student-athletes' lives, the importance of developing student-athlete’s character, and our commitment to helping members of our club work towards becoming the best version of themselves in a safe, fun, and supportive environment.
